Not on the List – “Jack & The Beanstalk”

Once again, a weekend found the family attending the Children’s Theatre.  A few months after “Bah, Humbug” it was time for Jack & The Beanstalk

Unfortunately, the kid who was to play Jack fell ill that morning, and a fill in was cast.  The New Jack (not that one) was sadly overmatched by not knowing the lines, but was a gamer, and I won’t mock or belittle for giving a good effort at the last minute.

The troupe has an obvious pecking order and casting hierarchy.  Original Jack was one of the Go-Tos. New Jack was a fill-in.

The rest of the cast was supportive, and honestly, they mostly pulled it off.  The directors told the audience before of the issue, so one cannot complain too much – and frankly, it is an $8 children’s theatre, so there shouldn’t be complaining anyway.

Several kids my family knows were part of the show as well, so it was a good opportunity to support the folks of our town, where we’re finally starting to feel pretty comfortable.  The crowd was almost entirely full, as well, which is another positive of the smaller town we now live in.

Summary
Once again, I’m not going to bash on a children’s theatre performance.  It was good fun, it kept the kids entertained, and you never know where the next star may come from.  Still not unique, nor repeatable, due to the limited nature of most stage performances, but still worth the trip.
